Assault at stafford school tops today's local police blotter report

STAFFORD, Va. — A fight between students at Stafford Middle School led to a criminal complaint for assault and battery, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in the school’s girls’ locker room during physical education class, when one student reportedly assaulted another. Sergeant J.T. Harrod, serving as the school resource officer, responded to the incident and identified the predominant aggressor.

In a separate case, a Stafford resident discovered fraudulent activity during a routine credit check. The victim, who does not bank with Capital One, found an unauthorized account in her name, prompting a report to Deputy W.A. Bolinsky. The investigation into the fraud is ongoing, the sheriff’s office said.

The YMCA on Butler Road was the site of a reported theft, according to authorities. A woman working out at the facility on Tuesday said her phone was stolen. Deputy D.R. Ludolph reviewed security footage, which captured the theft. The case remains under investigation.

On Nebula Lane, a construction site employee reported vandalism in the form of illegal dumping, which occurred around noon on Wednesday. Deputy C.S. Harding responded to the site, where the trash was discovered. Authorities are working to identify those responsible.

Investigations are underway in all incidents as Stafford County officials continue to monitor criminal activity in the area.
