Report: atlantic city mayor arrested after punching, choking female security guard?

ATLANTIC CITY-Frank Gilliam, the Democrat mayor of Atlantic City is in hot water again, this time for something much bigger than campaign finance troubles.

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Gilliam was involved in an altercation at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino.

“The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has become aware of an incident that was reported early Sunday morning that occurred at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino, 600 Huron Ave, Atlantic City, involving Atlantic City Mayor Frank Gilliam, Atlantic City Councilman Jeffree Fauntleroy II, and three other individuals. The matter is currently being reviewed by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. We have no further comment at this time,” Atlantic County First Assistant Prosecutor Cary Shill said.

One online report described the event in detail, according to sources they claim were law enforcement officials.

Townsquare Media radio station WPG today reported that Gilliam’s “incident” was caught on camera and shows him choking and punching a female security guard at the Casino’s Haven nightclub.

Gilliam responded saying, “Nothing really happened.”

Gilliam has been mayor of the city since January of 2018 after defeating Republican Don Guardian, who now serves as business administrator for the Township of Toms River.

A later report by the Atlantic City Press conflicted with the Townsquare Media report and said the woman was screaming at the mayor and councilman as they fought a third party male for about 45 seconds. According to the paper, no arrests have been made yet.
