Baltimore man charged in fatal Light Street parking lot shooting

BALTIMORE, MD – A 31-year-old Baltimore man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting that followed a late-night argument in South Baltimore last week.

Police said Davahughn Johnson was taken into custody without incident on December 31 in the 500 block of Saint Paul Street. Detectives linked him to the December 28 shooting of 32-year-old Charles Brothers, who was found dead in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Light Street after what investigators described as a verbal dispute.

Officers responding around 1:54 a.m. that morning discovered Brothers unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. Detectives from the Homicide Unit later identified Johnson as the suspect following their investigation.

After his arrest, Johnson was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was formally charged with first-degree murder.

Police continue to ask anyone with information about the case to contact homicide detectives at 410-396-2100 or submit anonymous tips through Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
