Beach Haven, NJ – A fast-moving house fire prompted a second alarm Tuesday afternoon after firefighters responding to a home on Leeward Avenue encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the third floor of a single-family residence.
The Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company said crews were dispatched at approximately 4:34 p.m. to 211 Leeward Avenue for a reported structure fire. While responding, Chief 1500 observed a column of smoke and immediately requested a second alarm to bring additional resources to the scene.
Fire showing from third floor upon arrival
Chief 1500 arrived and established command, reporting a three-story wood-frame single-family home with active fire showing from the third floor.
Fire units 1505 and 4611 arrived shortly afterward and stretched two handlines into the structure while crews established a water supply. Firefighters also deployed ground ladders and raised two aerial ladder trucks to attack the blaze from above.
