Body Found Inside Burning Vehicle in Wayne; Investigation Underway

Authorities say an unidentified person was found dead inside a burning vehicle Tuesday in Wayne as investigators work to determine the cause of death.

Wayne, NJ – An investigation is underway after police discovered the body of an unidentified individual inside a burning vehicle Tuesday in Wayne, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Emergency responders from the Wayne Police Department were dispatched to the area of 77 Willowbrook Boulevard on Tuesday following reports of a vehicle fire.

Body discovered inside vehicle

When officers arrived, they located a vehicle engulfed in flames and found the body of an unidentified person seated in the driver’s seat.

The identity of the deceased has not been released.

Authorities said the Passaic County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the cause and manner of death.

No suspects sought

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Wayne Police Chief Joseph Rooney said the investigation remains active.

Although investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the death, officials said there are no suspects being sought at this time and there is no danger to the public.
