JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ—The body of a 29-year-old male boater, who had been reported missing, was found Sunday afternoon in Ocean County in a lake near Six Flags Great Adventure by a Jackson Township detective.

The discovery was made just before 4 PM.

Jackson Township police received the initial report of a capsized boat on Prospertown Lake just before 2:30 PM on Saturday. According to State police, the victim from Old Bridge had overturned his kayak.

Due to adverse weather conditions and fading daylight, the search operation was suspended on Saturday. It resumed on Sunday, leading to the eventual discovery of the body.

The Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office is set to perform a post-mortem examination to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
