Bomb threat forces polling site shutdown at the Jersey Shore

DEAL, NJ – A bomb threat Tuesday morning forced the evacuation of Deal School, where voting was underway for local elections.

Authorities quickly redirected voters to Deal Borough Hall at 190 Norwood Avenue after the threat was reported.

The Deal Police Department confirmed the incident on its official Facebook page, assuring residents that the change was made for public safety while the investigation continues.

Key Points

  • Bomb threat reported at Deal School during election polling.
  • Voting relocated to Deal Borough Hall at 190 Norwood Avenue.
  • Police confirmed investigation is ongoing via Facebook.

Police reroute voters amid investigation

Officers from the Deal Police Department and Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene shortly after the threat was reported, clearing the school and surrounding area. Voters arriving to cast ballots were directed by signage and officers to the alternate location less than a mile away.

Officials said no explosive devices were found as of midday, but law enforcement teams continued to search the school grounds and nearby facilities as a precaution.

Election officials maintain voting continuity

Monmouth County election officials stated that all ballots and voting machines had been safely moved and that the polling site would remain open at Borough Hall for the rest of the day. The relocation was completed in under an hour to ensure minimal disruption to voters.
