Three people were hurt, including one who was knocked unconscious with a bottle, after a late-night fight erupted in North Wildwood, prosecutors said.
NORTH WILDWOOD, N.J. — A violent fight in the heart of North Wildwood left three adults injured, including one victim who was knocked unconscious after being struck with a bottle, leading to the arrests of a Philadelphia man and a New Jersey teenager, authorities announced Wednesday.
The incident happened at about 1:05 a.m. Monday near 13th Avenue and Central Avenue, according to the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the North Wildwood Police Department.
Responding officers found three injured adult victims at the scene. All three were transported to Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional for treatment.
Authorities said one of the victims became unconscious after being hit with a bottle during the altercation.
The suspects had fled before officers arrived.
An investigation by the North Wildwood Police Department’s Detective Division and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit led to the arrests later that day of 20-year-old Alpacino Carrero of Philadelphia and a 17-year-old male from West Wildwood.
Carrero is charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and second-degree aggravated assault. He was processed and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending court proceedings.
The juvenile was charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, second-degree aggravated assault and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was detained in a juvenile detention facility.
On Tuesday, prosecutors filed additional charges against the juvenile, including first-degree robbery and an additional count of second-degree aggravated assault.
Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland said there is no ongoing threat to the public, but the investigation remains active.
