Brawl inside casino spirals into stabbing and savage assault

Casino clash erupts as trio charged in stabbing and brutal assault

Atlantic City, NJ — A violent altercation inside a casino resort left a Maryland woman beaten and a man stabbed, ending in the arrests of three suspects tracked down across multiple states, officials said.

The incident unfolded April 5 around 10:37 p.m. at the Showboat Resort, where officers responded to a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they located a 38-year-old woman from Severn, Maryland, suffering from injuries. She was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, with non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, officers learned a second victim, later identified as Quheem Whitehead, arrived at the hospital with stab wounds after leaving the scene prior to police arrival. His injuries were also reported as non-life-threatening.

Investigators determined the violence stemmed from a verbal altercation that escalated. Whitehead allegedly chased the female victim and struck her multiple times in the head, causing her to fall. Authorities say Marquita Wilson then kicked the victim in the face repeatedly while she was on the ground. During the incident, Kiandre Harris allegedly stabbed Whitehead twice in the back with a pocketknife.

Detectives identified the suspects and filed charges following the investigation.

Whitehead, 38, and Wilson, 41, both of Newark, New Jersey, were arrested April 9 in Newark by members of the United States Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force. Harris, 31, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, was arrested April 15 by the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force in Baltimore.

Harris faces charges including aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain person not to possess a weapon. Whitehead and Wilson are each charged with aggravated assault.

All three are expected to be remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
