A 27-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash near Bridgeville, Delaware State Police said.

The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. when a Buick Century was traveling southbound on Wilson Farm Road at what investigators described as an apparent high rate of speed. According to police, the car failed to stop at a stop sign at Cannon Road, exited the east side of Conrail Road, re-entered the roadway, then rotated, exited again, hit a concrete barrier, and overturned.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Roads in the area, including Conrail Road, Wilson Farm Road, and Cannon Road, were closed for approximately three and a half hours during the investigation.

“The Buick proceeded past the stop sign at Cannon Road and exited the east side of Conrail Road,” investigators stated.
