ICE arrests two convicted felons in New York including child predator and repeat deportee

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in Buffalo arrested two Mexican nationals convicted of violent felonies in New York, the agency announced Monday.

Aurelio Lopes-Vasquez, 44, was convicted in Brooklyn on May 16, 2024, of sexual conduct against a child and acting in a manner to injure a child, according to ICE. Jesus Flores, 49, was convicted of manslaughter in the Bronx in 2018 and had previously been deported from the U.S. in 2009, 2012, and 2014.

ICE said both men entered the U.S. illegally on unknown dates and at unknown locations without inspection by immigration officials. They were taken into custody on July 7 and are being held in ICE detention pending immigration proceedings.

“This sexual predator and murderer have not only shown a complete disdain for our nation’s immigration laws, but also a wanton disregard for New York State Criminal laws,” said ICE Deputy Field Office Director Joseph Freden.

Both individuals are awaiting removal from the country.
