Bronx Man Arrested for Slashing Young Girl at Yankee Stadium Subway Station

BRONX, N.Y. – Police have arrested an 18-year-old Bronx man in connection with an assault investigation and are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect in an unrelated subway slashing incident.

Antonio Romero, 18, of East 170 Street, was taken into custody on January 21 at approximately 10:40 a.m. in the 49th Precinct. He has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault, third-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said. Details of the assault leading to Romero’s arrest were not immediately released.

Romero was allegedly involved in a December 17, 202, assault at the 161 Street-Yankee Stadium subway station. According to police, a 17-year-old girl was slashed on the left side of her face with an unknown object at approximately 4:33 p.m. The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem in stable condition.

Authorities have released an image of the suspect in the subway slashing and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual.
