Bronx man gunned down in hail of gunfire overnight

BRONX, N.Y. – A 27-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday evening in a burst of gunfire at a busy South Bronx intersection.

The victim, identified as John Martinez of East Mosholu Parkway South, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.

Police said the shooting occurred around 5:50 p.m. at the corner of Alexander Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard.

Martinez was rushed by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Investigation underway

Detectives are searching for clues and reviewing nearby surveillance footage as the investigation continues. Authorities have not announced any arrests or identified suspects in connection with the shooting.
