Bronx Man Receives 34-Year Sentence for Multiple Sexual Assaults

July 22, 2024

BRONX, NY — Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark has announced that 34-year-old Kemoy Royal of Pratt Avenue, Bronx, has been sentenced to 34 years to life in prison. Royal was convicted for raping two women and sexually assaulting a third within his Eastchester apartment over a six-day period.

Bronx Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Zimmerman handed down the sentence today, which includes 17 years to life for Predatory Sexual Assault, 10 years for first-degree Rape, and 7 years for Attempted Criminal Sexual Act in the first degree, all to be served consecutively.

Royal’s arrest followed a jury verdict on May 14, 2024, after two days of deliberation. Upon release, he must register under the Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA).

The case came to light when one of the victims, a 27-year-old woman whom Royal had contacted via a dating app, was able to send a distress message through a food delivery app while in his apartment. This quick-thinking act led to her rescue and ultimately helped law enforcement intervene and prevent further assaults.

Royal’s crimes began on June 13, 2022, when he invited the woman to his home, where he raped her and forced her into additional sexual acts without consent. The following day, Royal met another woman, aged 26, under false pretenses, lured her to his apartment, and violently assaulted her.

District Attorney Clark commended the bravery of the victims and highlighted the significance of the sentence in preventing further harm to the community by a repeat sexual offender.
