Victim stabbed inside her own vehicle before suspect stole the car and crashed it blocks away, MPD seeking public help to identify attackers
WASHINGTON, DC — A violent early-morning attack in Southeast Washington left a woman stabbed inside her own vehicle before her car was stolen and later found crashed, according to police, who are now releasing surveillance images and asking the public to help identify the suspects involved in the case.
The incident happened on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at approximately 1:43 a.m. in the 2100 block of Savannah Terrace SE, where Metropolitan Police Department Fifth District officers responded to reports of a stabbing and armed carjacking.
Investigators said the suspect entered the victim’s vehicle, brandished a knife, and stabbed the adult female victim during the encounter. The suspect then took control of the vehicle and fled the scene.
DC Fire and EMS responded and transported the victim to a local hospital. Officials said the injuries were non-life-threatening.
After the carjacking, the victim’s vehicle was later recovered after it was found unattended following a collision with a parked, unoccupied vehicle in the 3300 block of 18th Street SE, according to police.

Investigators are now actively seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals shown in the surveillance footage. Police emphasized that anyone with information should not approach the suspects.

Authorities are also offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible.
