Burger King employee charged with attempted homicide after stabbing co-worker in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — An 18-year-old Allentown man has been charged with attempted homicide after allegedly stabbing a co-worker in the throat during a shift at a Burger King restaurant on Saturday evening, according to police.

The Allentown Police Department responded to the fast-food restaurant at 1958 South Fourth Street around 6:14 p.m. on June 28 after receiving a report of a stabbing. Officers arriving at the scene found a victim employee suffering from a serious stab wound.

Police rendered immediate aid before the victim was transported by Allentown EMS to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest with what authorities described as Class 1 injuries.

Officers quickly identified and located the suspect, Brinley Capellan-Lopez, also an employee at the Burger King. He was detained at the scene without further incident.

Capellan-Lopez has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated assault.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the attack, and no further updates have been provided on the condition of the victim.
