BALTIMORE, MD – A California man visiting family in Maryland turned a routine lottery purchase into a $50,000 payday after scratching off a winning holiday ticket in Anne Arundel County.
The frequent lottery player said that while visiting his daughter, he decided to try his luck with a $5 Festive Fortune scratch-off from the Maryland Lottery. The ticket delivered a top-tier $50,000 prize.
He claimed the prize Thursday at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, accompanied by his granddaughter. The winner told officials he plans to deposit the money into savings and continue playing.
The winning ticket was purchased at Check Cash Depot, located at 7560 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
