BALTIMORE, MD – A Prince George’s County school bus driver said a routine lunch break turned into a $50,000 payday after he picked up a scratch-off ticket following his morning route.
The Suitland resident had just finished delivering his last group of students when he stopped for lunch and noticed a lottery retailer nearby. A regular scratch-off player, he decided to purchase a $10 50X the Cash ticket, a game that debuted January 9.
He told Maryland Lottery officials that he chose the ticket because it was new. In the past, he said, trying a new game once brought him a $600 win. This time, the result was far bigger.
After returning to his car and scratching the ticket, he uncovered a $50,000 prize. He described the moment as a shock, saying the win was completely unexpected.
Second-tier prize claimed in District Heights
The winning ticket was purchased at Lucky Lottery, located at 6029 Marlboro Pike in District Heights. He claimed the prize Wednesday at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
