Green Ball promotion triggered eight extra drawings and millions in added prizes
TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Pick-3 players collected an extra $2.55 million during a four-week Lottery promotion that repeatedly unlocked second chances to win, including one night when the bonus drawing alone delivered $461,825 in additional prizes.
The New Jersey Lottery announced Tuesday that its latest Pick-3 Green Ball promotion ran from July 6 through Aug. 3 and produced eight bonus drawings.
Green Ball unlocks second shot at prizes
During each evening Pick-3 drawing, the Lottery randomly selected one ball from a chamber initially containing six white balls and one green ball.
When a white ball was selected, it was removed, improving the chances of the green ball appearing on a subsequent night.
Whenever the green ball was drawn, the Lottery conducted an additional Pick-3 drawing, giving players from that evening another opportunity to win.
The green ball appeared eight times during the promotion.
One night delivers $461,825 bonus haul
July 28 emerged as the biggest night of the promotion.
The Green Ball drawing that evening generated $461,825 in additional prizes on top of the money awarded through the regular evening Pick-3 drawing.
Across the entire promotion, the eight Green Ball appearances resulted in $2.55 million in extra prizes for New Jersey Lottery players.
The Lottery did not announce dates for another Green Ball promotion but said information about future promotions will be posted on its website.
