Virginia Beach ticket lands six figures during the $1.04B Powerball run

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Virginia may have missed the $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot, but the historic run still produced a $100,000 ticket in Virginia Beach, more than 92,000 winning tickets in Wednesday’s drawing and an estimated $19.5 million in Lottery profits for the Commonwealth’s public schools.

The $100,000 ticket from the Aug. 12 drawing was sold at Boulevard Stop Mart, located at 5444 Virginia Beach Boulevard in Virginia Beach, according to the Virginia Lottery.

The winning Powerball numbers were 4, 26, 66, 67 and 69, with Powerball 9.

More than 92,000 tickets purchased in Virginia won prizes in the drawing, with the $100,000 Virginia Beach ticket among the biggest disclosed by the state Lottery.

The jackpot itself went to a ticket purchased in Illinois, which matched all five white balls and the Powerball to capture $1.04 billion.

Following that win, the jackpot reset to $20 million.

Jackpot fever delivers $19.5M for Virginia schools

The massive jackpot followed a run of 44 drawings, generating substantial Powerball ticket sales across Virginia.

The Virginia Lottery estimates those sales produced $19.5 million in profit.

Under Virginia law, Lottery profits are directed to K-12 public education in the Commonwealth.

That means Virginia schools benefited from the jackpot run even though the billion-dollar winning ticket was purchased outside the state.

Lottery generated $914M for education

Virginia Lottery profits totaled more than $914 million for K-12 education during fiscal year 2026, according to the Lottery.

That represented approximately 10% of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.

Powerball drawings are conducted Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338, while the overall odds of winning any Powerball prize are 1 in 25.
