A spare $10 and one FAST PLAY ticket turned a workday into a five-figure celebration
DUNDALK, MD – A routine delivery route took a $50,000 turn for Dundalk truck driver Jason Nixon after he walked into a 7-Eleven with $10 set aside for a lottery ticket and walked out holding a FAST PLAY Big Win ticket worth five figures.
Nixon, a Baltimore County resident, bought the winning $10 Big Win ticket late last month while making a stop at the 7-Eleven at 162 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park.
The truck driver told Maryland Lottery officials that he prefers games that provide immediate results, including scratch-offs and FAST PLAY.
Spare $10 delivers $50K surprise
Nixon had already set aside a $10 bill when he entered the store during his delivery route.
He spotted the lottery vending machine and chose the first game that caught his attention — the $10 FAST PLAY Big Win ticket.
The result left him repeatedly checking what he was seeing.
Nixon said he went over the ticket several times, with each check showing the same $50,000 result.
Truck driver makes two extra stops to verify win
Even after seeing the prize, Nixon wanted additional confirmation.
He stopped at two other lottery retailers while continuing his delivery route and scanned the ticket again at both locations.
Each check confirmed the $50,000 win.
By then, Nixon said he caught sight of himself in his truck’s rearview mirror and could not stop smiling.
More big prizes remain
Nixon was pictured by the Maryland Lottery alongside his wife, Elaine, following the win.
The Big Win FAST PLAY game still has 20 top prizes of $100,000 remaining, along with 16 additional $50,000 prizes, according to the Maryland Lottery.
The winning ticket came from the 7-Eleven at 162 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park, a location already sitting along Nixon’s regular delivery route.
