Car slams into multi-family home, driver hospitalized after crash in weathersfield drive neighborhood

SHIPPENSBURG, PA – A late-morning crash sent one driver to the hospital after a sedan veered off the road and plowed into the front of a multi-family home Sunday.

Emergency crews arrived to find the vehicle lodged against the structure.

The driver was trapped inside and had to be rescued through the passenger side.

Emergency crews respond to serious crash

Rose Fire Company #1 reported that Tower 58, Engine 58-1, and MICU 58-2 responded to the scene, where a sedan had crossed two yards before striking the front of the dwelling. Crews quickly worked to extricate the driver, who was found unresponsive but alive. After being freed, the driver was transferred to EMS personnel and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Residents evacuated as safety measures taken

Firefighters evacuated occupants of the damaged residence as a precaution and deployed a handline to guard against fire risk. The engine company also worked to control leaking fluids and clear debris from the area.

Scene cleared after extended operation

Crews remained on scene for approximately two hours to secure the structure and ensure the area was safe before reopening the roadway. Officials said no residents were injured and that structural assessments would be conducted to determine the extent of damage to the home.
