New York City Department of Education employee arrested in Brooklyn on child endangerment charges

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – A New York City Department of Education employee was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Brooklyn on charges related to child endangerment and misconduct while on duty, police said. The arrest took place around 12:55 p.m. within the confines of the 78th Precinct.

Authorities identified the suspect as 40-year-old Michael Boitano, an physical education teacher with the NYC Department of Education. Boitano faces multiple charges, including disseminating indecent material to minors, official misconduct by a public servant, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Details surrounding the alleged offenses were not immediately released, and the Department of Education has not yet commented on Boitano’s employment status pending the outcome of the investigation.
