Ravonn Terry admits drug and gun charges after police seized cocaine, cash and a stolen firearm
TOMS RIVER, NJ – A Toms River man caught in a months-long narcotics investigation has admitted to cocaine distribution and gun charges after detectives seized approximately 32 grams of cocaine, a stolen revolver and $2,400 in cash from a home police said he used to store and distribute drugs.
Ravonn Terry, 38, pleaded guilty Monday, Aug. 10, to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of a handgun, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
Terry entered the pleas before Superior Court Judge Dina M. Vicari.
When Terry is sentenced Oct. 16, prosecutors said the state will seek a 10-year New Jersey State Prison term on the narcotics charge.
The state will also seek a five-year prison term on the weapon charge, including 42 months of parole ineligibility. The sentences are expected to run concurrently, meaning Terry would face an effective 10-year prison term if the court imposes the sentences sought by prosecutors.
The case developed during a narcotics investigation that stretched from October 2025 through February.
Detectives from the Stafford Township and Toms River Township police departments established surveillance at a residence on Promise Avenue in Toms River.
Investigators determined Terry was using the residence to store and distribute cocaine, prosecutors said.
On Feb. 23, detectives watched Terry leave the residence and get into the passenger seat of a vehicle.
Toms River officers stopped the vehicle while it traveled through the township and took Terry into custody without incident.
The Toms River Township Police Department Special Enforcement Team then executed a court-authorized search warrant at the Promise Avenue residence.
Detectives seized approximately 32 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia associated with narcotics distribution and $2,400 in U.S. currency, according to prosecutors.
Investigators also recovered a Smith & Wesson revolver that was determined to have been stolen.
Terry was charged and held at the Ocean County Jail, where he remained through his guilty pleas Monday.
The investigation involved the Stafford Township Police Department, Toms River Township Police Department, its Special Enforcement Team and the New Jersey State Police Crime Suppression South Unit.
