July 3, 2026

Two juveniles and an 18-year-old were taken into custody after officers stopped a stolen vehicle and recovered a loaded handgun reported stolen during an early morning pursuit.

Columbus, OH – Three suspects, including two juveniles and an 18-year-old man, were arrested early Monday after Columbus police pursued a vehicle reported stolen from Pickaway County, leading to the recovery of a stolen loaded handgun.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers spotted the stolen vehicle at approximately 3:46 a.m. on Monday and attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to pull over and instead fled at a high rate of speed, prompting officers to deploy stop sticks to safely disable the vehicle and reduce the risk to the public.

Police said the stop sticks successfully brought the fleeing vehicle to a halt. The vehicle’s three occupants—identified as two juveniles and 18-year-old Marquise Curtis—then fled on foot.

Officers quickly pursued the suspects and apprehended all three following a brief foot chase. Investigators also recovered the stolen vehicle along with a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen.

Charges filed following arrest

Authorities charged all three suspects with receiving stolen property. Curtis was additionally charged with resisting arrest and failure to comply with a lawful order.

“If you have any additional information on this incident, please contact Detective Abel at 614-645-2159 or kabel@columbuspolice.org,” the Columbus Division of Police said in its announcement.
