Condoms and abortion pills available in teen section at this new jersey library

CRANFORD, NJ — A New Jersey library has been giving out condoms and abortion pills in the teen section and they don’t want to talk about.

The Cranford Public Library (CPL) recently launched the pantry, which offers free personal care items, including menstrual products, lip balm, and hygiene supplies. The initiative was designed to provide access without cost or embarrassment, according to library director Kathryn Cannarozzi.

“The pantry allows anyone in need of items such as menstrual products the opportunity to help themselves without cost or embarrassment,” Cannarozzi said.

However, after a wave of criticism, the library removed certain items and is now working on a policy to regulate what will be offered. Among the items originally available were condoms and Plan B, an emergency contraceptive pill that prevents pregnancy after unprotected sex. Plan B is sold without age restrictions at pharmacies and online.

A video posted to X showed a man confronting library staff about the availability of the products. Staff members reportedly did not answer his questions, following instructions from library management.
