September 7, 2024

STAMFORD, Conn. — A student at Stamford High School was arrested on Friday after allegedly making a shooting threat via Snapchat, according to the Stamford Police Department.

The department received a tip from the FBI at 2 p.m. indicating that a threat to “shoot up the school” had been made on the social media platform. Investigators traced the phone number associated with the threat to a Stamford resident and determined that the phone was located inside Stamford High School.

Detectives were able to quickly identify the student responsible for the Snap. Officers from the patrol division, along with the school resource officer, apprehended the student shortly after. No weapon was recovered at the school.

Further investigation led police to search two residences linked to the student, but no weapons were found. The student was charged with first-degree threatening and first-degree breach of peace and was taken to police headquarters.

The investigation is ongoing, and the student is cooperating with authorities. A court date has been set for September 13.
