Cranford enacts snow route parking ban as storm moves through region

CRANFORD, NJ – With several inches of snow expected to accumulate through the day, Cranford officials have activated the township’s Emergency Snow Route parking ordinance and are warning residents to remove vehicles from designated roadways to avoid tickets or towing.

The Cranford Police Department announced Friday that the forecasted snowfall meets the threshold outlined in the local ordinance, which prohibits parking on specific streets once three inches or more of snow has fallen. The restrictions are intended to ensure that plows and emergency vehicles can safely navigate and clear major routes, including North Avenue (Route 28).

Police urged residents to check the township’s Office of Emergency Management website for a full list of affected streets and updates on snow removal operations. They also encouraged residents to sign up for Nixle alerts and follow the department on social media for real-time notifications.

Officials said enforcement of the parking ban will remain in effect until snow removal operations are complete.

Cranford police have activated snow emergency parking restrictions as crews prepare for significant snowfall across the township.
