CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Cumberland man was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting a woman and robbing her outside a business on Maryland Avenue, according to police.

Officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to a reported assault around 4:11 p.m. in the 400 block of Maryland Avenue. The alleged victim told officers that a man, later identified as Michael Baron Brailsford, 44, of Cumberland, had threatened her inside the store. After she left the business, Brailsford reportedly followed her outside, assaulted her, and took her property.

Following an investigation, police located Brailsford on Auburn Avenue and took him into custody. He was transported to Central Booking, where he was later seen by a District Court Commissioner.

Brailsford faces multiple charges, including robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and disorderly conduct. He is currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
