WEST MILFORD, N.J. — A wildfire burning across 2,000 acres in northern New Jersey and into New York state remains uncontained, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.

The fire, which started near Greenwood Lake Turnpike and East Shore Road in West Milford, Passaic County, has spread across the border into Orange County, N.Y. As of the latest update, it is 0% contained, with firefighting efforts ongoing.

Officials report that two residential structures and eight buildings in the historic Long Pond Ironworks District are currently threatened by the blaze, though no evacuations have been ordered. Fire crews are working to protect the structures while battling the flames.

Road closures include East Shore Road from Awosting Road to Greenwood Lake Turnpike and Beech Road. Additionally, all trails in Long Pond Ironworks State Park and Tranquility Ridge are closed to the public due to safety concerns.

The Forest Fire Service has deployed ground crews and fire engines to the scene, along with two helicopters capable of dropping 350 gallons of water to support containment efforts. The cause of the wildfire is under investigation.
