Cumberland Police introduce new K9 Apollo after national certification

Cumberland, MD – The Cumberland Police Department announced that Pfc. Garrison and his new K9 partner, Apollo, have successfully graduated from Shallow Creek Kennels and earned certification from the North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA).

Apollo, a 19-month-old Belgian Malinois born in Poland in May 2024, is now certified as a full patrol canine. His training includes suspect apprehension, narcotics detection, tracking, obedience, and article or evidence searches.

  • Team joins Cumberland Police after national certification

Department officials said Apollo will now begin active duty with the Cumberland Police Department, joining the agency’s K9 Unit to assist with patrol operations and investigations.
