D.C. Police Make Arrest in Home Burglary and Dog Theft

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A Southeast D.C. man has been arrested in connection with a home burglary last December that involved the theft of a dog. Detectives from the D.C. Metro Police Department made the arrest on Tuesday following a warrant issued by the DC Superior Court.

The incident occurred on the evening of December 31, 2023, when two suspects forced their way into a residence on the 100 block of Atlantic Street after the homeowner answered the door. The suspects assaulted the homeowner and fled with the victim’s dog.

Fortunately, the dog was safely returned to its owner on January 2.

The arrested individual, identified as 34-year-old Dante Gardner, has been charged with Burglary One. The investigation into the incident continues, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward by calling (202) 727-9099 or texting tips to 50411.
