September 24, 2024

Washington, D.C. – The arrest of a suspect linked to a felony threats offense has been made following an incident on 14th Street, Northwest.

On Monday, September 23, at approximately 6:20 PM, a confrontation occurred inside an establishment. During the argument, the suspect made derogatory remarks regarding the employees’ national origin while threatening them with a firearm. Officers apprehended the suspect at the scene.

Chanae Ridian Watson, 32, of Northwest, D.C., was arrested and charged with Threats to Kidnap or Injure a Person.

Investigators are looking into the incident for possible hate or bias motivations. This designation may change as the investigation continues, and a hate crime designation by D.C. Metro Police does not guarantee prosecution as such. The Special Liaison Branch is assisting with the investigation.
