Dashcam captures moment dump truck slams into South Jersey home

A dump truck driver suffered a medical emergency before crashing into a South Jersey home, trapping himself for hours and injuring a homeowner.

WOODBURY HEIGHTS, N.J. — Emergency crews responded to a chaotic scene Tuesday afternoon after a dump truck veered off the road and slammed into a house in Gloucester County, trapping the driver and injuring the homeowner.

Police said the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. when the truck was traveling northbound on Woodbury-Glassboro Road. The vehicle struck a telephone pole at Fairview Avenue before crossing several front yards and crashing into a residence on Stratford Avenue.

Dashcam footage obtained by Action News shows the truck barreling at approximately 50 mph before the impact. Witnesses reported no sign of braking prior to the collision.

Driver trapped for hours, homeowner hospitalized

A homeowner was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The driver, an employee of Zeisloft Trucking, was trapped in the cab of the dump truck for about three hours before being rescued. The company’s owner, Charles Zeisloft, stated the driver had suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel.

“He had no idea what happened. All he knows is he was stuck in the truck,” Zeisloft told reporters.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash, including the cause of the driver’s medical episode.
