A man surrendered without incident after a tense overnight standoff in Berkeley Township’s senior community.

BERKELEY, N.J. — A man was taken into custody overnight following a prolonged police standoff at the Holiday City Berkeley senior community in Ocean County, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

The incident, which unfolded in the 55+ residential development, was first reported by Jersey Coast Emergency News, a breaking news scanner page covering the Jersey Shore. Armed police officers were seen taking cover behind vehicles as they surrounded the home for several hours.

The standoff ended when the man emerged from the residence with his hands raised. Officers moved in and placed him in handcuffs without reported injury.
