Deadly Fire Claims Man’s Life in Northern York County Mobile Home

July 12, 2024

YORK, PA—A devastating fire at Meadow Run Mobile Home Park resulted in the death of a local resident early Wednesday morning. The Northern York County Regional Police Department reported to the scene at 5145 N Susquehanna Trail, where firefighters encountered the front half of the mobile home engulfed in flames.

The Strinestown Fire Department responded promptly, extinguishing the fire. However, 54-year-old Tracy Emig was found unconscious inside the home and had to be rescued through a rear bedroom window. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by firefighters, Emig was transported to York Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigations by the Northern York County Regional Police Fire Investigator and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall revealed that the fire originated in the kitchen due to an overloaded electrical power strip. Alarmingly, no smoke detectors were present in the home. Further details regarding the incident are pending, and no autopsy is scheduled for Emig.
