OLD BRIDGE, NJ—Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Old Bridge Police Chief Thomas J. Montagna have announced charges against two men following a deadly collision that occurred on June 2, 2024, on Route 9 near Ferry Road.

The crash involved multiple vehicles, including a Ford Mustang driven by 22-year-old Wilson Familia of Old Bridge and a BMW driven by 32-year-old Benjamin Futerman of Manalapan. The collision resulted in critical injuries and one fatality. Kristina Godich, 31, also from Manalapan, who was a passenger in the BMW, was pronounced dead at the scene. Familia and three passengers from his vehicle, along with Futerman, were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.

An investigation led by Officer Steve Connolly of the Old Bridge Police Department and Detective Matthew Colonna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that both Familia and Futerman were driving at high speeds and engaging in aggressive driving behaviors, which contributed to the crash.

Wilson Familia turned himself in on July 8, 2024, facing charges including second-degree aggravated assault and fourth-degree assault by auto. Benjamin Futerman surrendered on July 10, 2024, and was charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter and second-degree vehicular homicide in connection to Godich’s death.

Both suspects were released on pretrial monitoring after their first appearances at the Middlesex County Courthouse. The Old Bridge Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office continue to investigate the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.
