Wilmington, DE – A Bear woman has been charged with felony assault after Delaware State Police say she pepper sprayed a customer and the customer’s parents following a dispute over a hair appointment at a Wilmington salon.
It ended with a bad Yelp review and a bad hair day for all involved.
Mykahya Pritchett, 22, was arrested after the incident at Thestylistmk, located at 3650 Kirkwood Highway, according to the Delaware State Police.
Investigators said troopers responded to the salon at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday for a report of an assault.
Dispute escalated outside salon
According to the preliminary investigation, the customer had received hair services from Pritchett before a disagreement developed over the price charged and the services provided.
Police said the customer submitted a partial payment before leaving the business with the customer’s parents.
Investigators allege Pritchett followed the family outside the salon and pepper sprayed all three individuals. Two victims were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the third was not injured.
Arrest made the following day
After completing the investigation, Delaware State Police obtained an arrest warrant for Pritchett.
Troopers returned to the salon on Thursday and took her into custody without incident. She was transported to Troop 6, where she was charged with three counts of second-degree assault, all felony offenses.
Pritchett was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court and released after posting a $15,000 cash bond.
The charges against Pritchett are accusations, and she is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
