WILMINGTON, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that began as a shoplifting incident Saturday night at the Royal Farms on Kirkwood Highway.
According to investigators, an unknown white male suspect concealed merchandise on his person and attempted to leave the store without paying. When employees confronted him near the exit, the suspect displayed a handgun and made threats before fleeing the scene.
The suspect escaped in a blue sedan driven by an unidentified individual, police said. The suspect is described as a white male wearing dark-colored clothing, but no further description of the vehicle or driver is available.
The incident occurred around 9:27 p.m., and authorities are continuing to investigate. At this time, no surveillance footage or images have been released.
