NEWARK, N.J. — Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an aggravated assault stabbing that occurred early Friday morning, December 20, in Newark.

According to Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., officers were alerted around 3 a.m. when a stabbing victim arrived at University Hospital for treatment. The victim, who is reportedly in stable condition, told police that the incident took place near Highland Avenue and Park Avenue.

The victim stated he had been sitting in his car with two female passengers when the suspect, described as a Hispanic male, entered the rear seat of the vehicle and began arguing with one of the women. When the victim asked all passengers to leave the car, the suspect stabbed him before fleeing on foot.
