New Jersey Congressional Democrat candidate Brigid Harrison has just blamed Congressman Jeff Van Drew for coronavirus in South Jersey.
“If you look at a map of New Jersey COVID-19 data, it would seem that we have magically contained the spread of the virus to the northern portions of the Second Congressional District. In Ocean County, over 3,800 people had tested positive for the virus as of Tuesday, but only 284 people in adjacent Atlantic County had. What does Atlantic County have that the rest of the state doesn’t?” she asked. “In all actuality, what we have is startlingly failed leadership by Congressman Jeff Van Drew.”
“So in South Jersey, the sick get sicker, essential employees have nowhere to go to get cleared so that they could go back to work, and those who have gotten sick on the job have no way to get diagnosed in order to receive worker’s compensation benefits,” she rambled on.
On March 12, Van Drew tweeted: “I am sitting at my desk in Washington waiting. Waiting for @SpeakerPelosi to put a useful piece of legislation on the floor to help American workers.”
“Maybe if Van Drew had gotten up from behind his desk and done his job, we wouldn’t be forced to wait,” she said.
She then criticized Van Drew’s support for lowering New Jersey flags to half-staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“On April 5 Van Drew joined Fox & Friends to discuss New Jersey and the coronavirus response, a segment that Fox News dubbed “NJ lowers flags to half-staff ‘indefinitely’ to honor coronavirus deaths.” She said. “Maybe if Van Drew was less concerned about his political career and more concerned about the health of the hard-working people of his district, there wouldn’t be so many deaths. But also, maybe it wouldn’t be so hard to get tested.”
