MACON, GA – Deputies with the Macon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic situation after receiving a 911 call on Thursday.
Deputies responded to a residence on Johnson Road where it was reported by the caller that a weapon was involved in the situation. Upon arrival a deputy found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds in the bedroom area of the home.
Deputy found no other persons in the home. A family member of one of the injured arrived on the scene at the same time the deputy and advised the deputy that he had been on the phone with his family member when he heard him and a female arguing.
During this time he stated that he heard two gunshots. Once the deputy entered the residence, two gunshot victims were found by the deputy with one of them being found deceased.
The other individual was critically injured and the deputy immediately requested assistance from medical personnel. EMS & members of West Macon Fire quickly arrived on the scene and accessed the situation and initiated medical care. Once appropriate, one of the injured was immediately transported to the hospital to receive additional medical care. That patient remains hospitalized and remains in extremely critical condition.
Once the scene was secured by deputies, Detectives with the MCSO Criminal Investigations Unit responded and initiated their investigation into the incident. Sheriff Holland states, “While this investigation remains ongoing, we would like the community to know we feel there is no concern for any additional threats to the community due to our preliminary findings. It was quickly evident that this was a domestic between the two parties found injured and that one had shot the other. There is no evidence whatsoever that there was anyone else at the home at the time of the shooting.”
Detectives and patrol officers remained at the home throughout the night working the crime scene as well as conducting interviews. That investigation has continued throughout this day. The MCSO is not identifying either of these individuals until we have had the opportunity to notify the appropriate next of kin.
