DOVER, DE — A Dover Air Force Base airman, Amir Hughes, 20, has been arrested under severe charges related to the continuous abuse of a child. Delaware State Police disclosed that their investigation began in April 2024, focusing on the alleged inappropriate relationship between Hughes and a 14-year-old girl.

Details emerged that Hughes was engaged in an ongoing relationship with the minor.

The relationship came to light during a thorough investigation by the Delaware State Police Detectives, leading to his arrest on May 30, 2024.

Hughes was processed at Troop 3 and subsequently arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2. Following his arraignment, he was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, with bail set at a $600,000 cash bond. The case continues to develop as further inquiries are conducted by local authorities.
