Police say suspect sped away from stop before later arrest and remand to county jail
Gloucester Township, NJ — A driver who fled a late-night traffic stop in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township now faces criminal charges after officers identified and arrested her days later, police said.
Michelle Papaycik, 38, of Blackwood, was arrested April 13, 2026, and charged with third-degree eluding law enforcement along with multiple motor vehicle violations, according to the Gloucester Township Police Department.
Driver identified after fleeing stop
The incident began around 11:33 p.m. on April 8, when an officer attempted to stop a white Acura for traffic violations on the 600 block of North Black Horse Pike.
Police said the vehicle initially pulled over, and the driver appeared to wave documents out of the window. However, as the officer approached, the driver suddenly accelerated and fled southbound at a high rate of speed.
The officer chose not to pursue the vehicle due to public safety concerns, authorities said.
Arrest follows investigation
A follow-up investigation determined the driver was Papaycik, the registered owner of the vehicle, police said. She was later located and taken into custody by officers on April 13.
Papaycik was processed and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility, according to police.
