Drunk Driver Sends Four To Hospital in Early Sunday Morning Crash on New Jersey Route 3

RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Authorities are investigating a motor vehicle accident that occurred early Sunday morning on Route 3 West in Rutherford.

The crash involved a 2022 Ford Ranger and a 2018 Honda HRV and resulted in multiple injuries.

The Rutherford Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 5:12 a.m. and discovered that four passengers in the Honda HRV had sustained injuries. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries was not immediately disclosed.

According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, the driver of the Ford Ranger was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. No further details about the driver were released.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, led by Chief Matthew Finck, is conducting the investigation, along with the Rutherford Police Department under Chief John Russo. Detours remain in place near the site of the collision.
