Police say a restaurant employee and bystanders subdued an intoxicated customer who allegedly attempted to stab a worker during a disturbance at a Dumfries restaurant.
A 35-year-old Triangle man has been charged after police say he assaulted a restaurant employee and attempted to stab him during an altercation at a Dumfries restaurant Tuesday night.
Officers responded at approximately 8:21 p.m. on June 24 to Brothers Encore, located at 5135 Waterway Drive, after receiving a report of a disorderly person armed with a weapon.
According to investigators, the incident began when an employee became involved in a verbal altercation with an intoxicated patron.
Employee and bystanders restrained suspect
Police identified the suspect as David Andrew Fies, 35, of Triangle.
During the confrontation, investigators allege Fies assaulted the employee and attempted to stab the victim with a knife.
The victim, with the assistance of Good Samaritans, restrained Fies until officers arrived and took him into custody.
No injuries were reported.
Suspect charged with attempted malicious wounding
Following the investigation, Fies was charged with attempted malicious wounding.
He was held on a $2,500 unsecured bond. A court date was not immediately available.
The investigation remains ongoing.
