WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris took aim at former President Donald Trump on Sunday, criticizing his refusal to release medical records ahead of the 2024 election. In remarks to reporters, Harris highlighted Trump’s lack of transparency, stating that it raises concerns about his fitness for office.

“I released my medical records today, as has every candidate for president, except Donald Trump,” Harris said. She argued that Trump’s unwillingness to share his health information is part of a broader pattern, including his refusal to participate in debates or traditional interviews. “It’s just a further example of his lack of transparency,” she added, referencing Trump’s avoidance of a “60 Minutes” interview and recent comments from former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, who reportedly questioned Trump’s stability.

While Harris stopped short of offering a medical evaluation, she was unequivocal in her assessment of Trump’s overall suitability for the presidency.

“On every other level… we know that he does not have the ability to do the job. He is unfit for office,” Harris said.

Harris’s comments come at a time when the issue of transparency around candidates’ health records has been a recurring topic in the 2024 presidential race.

Both Trump, 78, and President Joe Biden, 81, have faced scrutiny over their age and health.

After their first debate, Biden dropped out after showing obvious signs of cognitive decline.

Although Biden released a six-page medical summary in February stating he was “fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency,” concerns have persisted, especially after Biden’s stumbling performance in the first presidential debate in September.

Trump responded to Harris’ criticism stating, “I think she’s dumber than hell.”

That performance led to Democrats forcing Biden out of the race in favor of Harris.

When asked about Biden’s health following the debate, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre noted that the president had been dealing with a cold.

However, critics argue that Biden’s medical records, last publicly updated nearly two years ago, do not provide a full picture of his current condition.
