January 30, 2025

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — A 28-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly selling fentanyl and cocaine out of a residence on Cannon Street, the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force announced.

Investigators identified Tyshawn R. Smith as a suspect after conducting multiple undercover purchases of narcotics. A search warrant was obtained following the investigation.

On January 28, Drug Task Force agents located Smith on Market Street in Poughkeepsie and arrested him without incident. Authorities then executed a search warrant at his Cannon Street residence.

Smith has been charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony. Officials said additional charges are pending.

After his arraignment in City of Poughkeepsie Court, Smith was remanded to Dutchess County Jail on $100,000 cash bail, $200,000 secured bond, or $300,000 partially secured bond, as law enforcement continues its crackdown on narcotics distribution in the area.
