DALLAS, TX – U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) sharply criticized the Supreme Court in a profanity-laced outburst following its decision to allow Texas’ new congressional map to take effect ahead of the 2026 elections — a ruling expected to significantly reshape the state’s political balance and weaken Democratic prospects.
In a video posted Sunday to her YouTube channel, Crockett accused the Court and Republican leaders of “rigging the system” through partisan redistricting efforts, calling the ruling a direct attack on fair representation. “Definitely kudos to the Trump justice who wrote the 160-page opinion denouncing what took place in Texas,” Crockett said. “And f— you to the Supreme Court for what they did. We’ll see what happens in some other places.”
The Court’s December order temporarily upheld Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s newly redrawn congressional boundaries, which analysts say could add as many as five new Republican-leaning seats. The ruling effectively ends Democratic legal challenges to block the maps before the 2026 election cycle.
Crockett, whose district is one of several impacted by the changes, announced she will no longer seek re-election to the House and instead plans to run for the U.S. Senate, though political observers say her path forward is uncertain. The freshman congresswoman, known for her outspoken progressive views and frequent clashes with GOP colleagues, has framed her campaign as a fight against what she calls “judicial overreach and political manipulation.”
“Obviously, Trump is still doing his bidding with these state Houses and governor’s mansions to try to rig the system,” Crockett said in the video, also praising states like Indiana and California for challenging similar redistricting actions.
The redistricting dispute is part of a broader national battle over voting maps ahead of the 2026 midterms, as states finalize congressional boundaries following a wave of court decisions that have favored Republican-drawn maps in Texas, Florida, and other southern states.
Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett blasted the Supreme Court after it allowed GOP-led redistricting to stand, accusing Republicans of manipulating the process as she shifts her focus to a long-shot Senate campaign.
