Basenji named Reese still missing in Farmingdale as family pleads for help

Farmingdale, NJ – A family’s search for their missing dog, Reese, has spread across multiple Monmouth County towns as residents are urged to keep an eye out for the frightened Basenji who vanished earlier this week after running from her Freehold home.

Reese, a brown-and-white Basenji with brindle markings and a curled tail, was last seen near Main Street in Farmingdale and may be traveling along the Henry Hudson Trail toward Red Bank. Her family says she slipped through their electric fence in Freehold Borough and was tracked for some distance before her collar and AirTags were found broken on the ground.

“She’s a runner,” her owner said, noting that the dog will flee if called or chased. Reese is gentle and friendly with other dogs but extremely skittish around strangers, cars, and loud noises. Her family is asking residents to quietly report sightings instead of approaching her.

Residents in Freehold, Farmingdale, Howell, and nearby areas are encouraged to check outdoor cameras and leave food and water out overnight to help locate her. “She may come out when it’s quiet,” her family said.

Anyone who spots Reese is asked to contact her owner, George, immediately at 347-466-0771 with her exact location and direction of travel.
